How it works

What gets installed

Only the Mac app. Everything else comes from it, and nothing is added to your PATH or system folders.

What happens when you run /look

  1. Your agent runs ~/.look/bin/look wait, which starts the Mac app if needed and holds until something arrives.
  2. The Mac app sees the wait and buzzes your iPhone through Apple's push service. The push carries no photos or words.
  3. You take photos and talk. Speech is transcribed on your iPhone.
  4. When you send, your iPhone finds your Mac on the local network and sends the batch directly over an encrypted connection.
  5. The Mac app saves the batch in ~/.look.
  6. The tool hands it to your agent as Markdown: your words in order, with each photo in the place you took it.
  7. Your agent opens each photo and treats your words as your request.

Each /look takes one batch. To send more, run it again.

Dragging instead

Every batch also appears in the Mac app. Drag it into any tool you like, without the skill or the look tool. A batch you drag won't be handed to /look as well.

Pairing

There's no account. Your Mac creates a key and shares it through iCloud Keychain, so an iPhone on the same iCloud account pairs by itself. Otherwise, scan the code in the Mac app.

Where your photos go

Agents with their own sandbox

The look tool can't run inside an agent's own sandbox, so agents like Codex have to run /look outside it.
