Don't worry about it. Look runs on your iPhone and your Mac. We have no accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting and no servers for it to talk to, so we never see your photos, your words or anything about you.
Your photos and words
- Photos go directly from your iPhone to your Mac over your local network, encrypted with a key only your devices share.
- Speech is transcribed on your iPhone. Your voice isn't sent anywhere and no audio is kept.
- Captures live on your Mac in a folder called
.lookin your home folder, and are deleted automatically after 24 hours. Anything you dragged elsewhere is yours to look after.
What Apple carries
Two small things go through Apple, in your own iCloud account. Neither contains a photo or a word you said.
- The pairing key. iCloud Keychain syncs it so your iPhone and Mac find each other without a code.
- The nudge. When you run
/look, your Mac uses CloudKit and Apple's push service to buzz your iPhone.
Your agent
This is the one place your content leaves your devices, and it's your call. When you run /look, the capture is handed to the agent you ran it in. That agent may send it to its AI provider, under that provider's terms. Look doesn't control that, and it never sends anything to an agent you haven't asked.
